A lot of people said it couldn’t be done. They claimed that you couldn’t grow a kitchen and bath remodeling company into something large and successful, all the while still maintaining the absolute highest standards for craftsmanship and professional service.
We can confidently say: the people that said that were wrong, and we’ve flat-out proven it.
Hi, this is John Bartrom and Dave Cummings, owners of Jericho Home Improvements, the largest independent kitchen and bath remodeler in the nation. Figuring out how to put together and grow this special company has taken decades of experience.
Having spent our entire adult lives in the remodeling industry, we knew it from an insider’s perspective. And much of what we saw during those decades was disappointing. Many companies failed to get even the most basic things right:
They didn’t focus on taking care of their customers. They emphasized playing pricing games over quality work. They cut corners to lower costs and didn’t worry about how inferior quality hurt their customers in the long-run. These companies forgot - or never learned - that you are only as good as the people you hire and how well you treat them.
We were determined to be different. When we launched Jericho, we made the decision to live the values we believed in and to do things that had never been done before in the remodeling industry.
We have honed a core set of values that guide ALL of our Jericho Team Members EVERY day. We know that at some companies, mission statements and core value exercises are quickly created and just as quickly forgotten. Not so here.
The following core values are the bedrock foundation that supports the special culture at Jericho Home Improvements. It is these core values that distinguish us from the typical mediocrity in the remodeling industry and drive our success.
We reject the idea that “good enough” is good enough. We must give our clients a GREAT experience in every area. We don’t just want satisfaction; we want them to rave about Jericho.
The key to our success is treating people well. Team members are encouraged to speak up and take risks. We recognize and reward excellence and promote development and growth.
The fundamental foundation of Jericho is to give back through our time, financial support, and resources to our communities and organizations that align with our core values.
We exercise good judgment by "doing the right thing" instead of just "doing things right." We strive to understand the impact of our decisions, and we accept responsibility for our actions.
We are focused and serious about the operations of our business. We believe in hard work and investing extra effort to get things done. We believe in operational excellence, and realize there is always room for improvement in everything we do.
Passion is the fuel that drives us and the company forward. We value passion, excellence, determination, perseverance, and a sense of urgency.
We never stop learning. We never stop making ourselves better. Positive growth is important both personally and professionally. And growth comes from constantly challenging and stretching ourselves individually and as a company.
While we reward and celebrate our individual and team successes, we are not arrogant. We always treat others how we would want to be treated. We carry ourselves with a quiet confidence, because we believe in the long run our character will speak for itself.
We believed in these principles when we launched, and we believe in them now. We’re delighted to report that being true to these values has led to tremendous success. We’ve built the largest independent kitchen and bath remodeling company in the country.
We are grateful to our team and our clients for allowing us to go on this incredible journey.
